Travis King Named Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete for Men's Indoor Track & Field

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College senior Travis King has been selected as Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete for Men's Indoor Track & Field.

A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors selected the recipients, choosing one senior from each of the sports sponsored by the conference. The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and are selected based on their accomplishments in all areas of college life including athletics, academics and other extracurricular activities

King finished in the top six eight times during his indoor track career despite missing the Landmark Championship meet as a sophomore with an injury. He won the triple jump as a freshman and finished runner-up his last two years.

At the 2013 Landmark Indoor Championship, King was second in the triple jump and the 4x200 meter relay while placing sixth in the long jump and 60 meters. King helped the team to its fourth consecutive Landmark title. He is a three sport athlete who also played football and is currently competing on the outdoor track and field team.

Heading into the 2013 Landmark Outdoor Championships, King is the three-time defending champion in the triple jump, and he also helped the Greyhounds win the 4x100-meter relay title a year ago.

King is a business management major. He boasts a 3.48 cumulative grade point average and has been recognized on the Landmark Honor Roll all three years he has been eligible. He was recently named to the Landmark All-Academic Team and has made the Dean's List four semesters. King is also a member of Moravian's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

On the football field, King was a three-time member of the Centennial Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll, and he was a Centennial All-Conference First Team selection in 2012 as a defensive back. King, who played in 37 of 41 possible games in his career, led the 2012 Greyhound squad with 77 tackles to go with six and a half tackles for loss, a sack, two interceptions including a 45-yard return for a touchdown, six passes defended and four forced fumbles. This past fall, King also returned 13 kickoffs for 248 yards and 11 punts for 88 yards. He finished his career with 187 tackles including 117 solo stops to go with 13 and a half tackles for loss, one sack, 21 passes defended with ten interceptions, which ranks tenth in school history, including two returned for touchdowns, six forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. King set the Moravian career records for kickoff returns at 65 and yards at 1,317, and he also returned 37 punts for 323 yards.
