Moravian Falls to No. 10 TCNJ in Home Opener

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's lacrosse squad took an early 2-0 lead, but fell to No. 10 The College of New Jersey, 25-9, in non-conference action on John Makuvek Field Saturday as the Greyhounds began their 2024 home season.

How It Happened

  • The Hounds opened the scoring just 2:39 into action as junior midfielder Madi Dippel found the net off a pass from junior attack Jackie Salvatore. Moravian made the edge 2-0 less that a minute later as junior midfielder Alex Cherenson scored on a free position shot. The Lions countered with six straight goals before Cherenson tallied again for the Blue & Grey. Dippel scored once more in the period; however, TCNJ led 9-4 after 14 minutes of action
  • Cherenson netted another goal to start the second quarter and Dippel put two shots in the net during the period, but the Lions held a 16-7 advantage at the intermission
  • TCNJ scored the only six goals during the third quarter, and the Lions had netted 13 straight goals before Dippel and sophomore midfielder Gianna Lotito tallied goals in the final minute of the contest

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had four players record a point with Dippel netting a team-high five goals to go with two ground balls, a pair of draw controls and three caused turnovers
  • Cherenson posted a hat trick to go along with for draw controls and two ground balls while Lotito had a goal
  • Salvatore contributed a pair of assists, seven draw controls and three ground balls while junior defender Leah Hoskin had two ground balls and a draw control
  • Sophomore goalie Kayla Graef registered a pair of saves in 24 minutes of action as she started the contest while freshman goalie Elle Burd made three saves in 36 minute while making her collegiate debut between the pipes
