Moravian Falls to Cabrini in Non-Conference Action

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's lacrosse squad fell to visiting Cabrini University, 22-9, in non-conference action on John Makuvek Field Wednesday evening.

How It Happened

  • The Cavaliers scored the first two goals of the match before junior attack Jackie Salvatore found the net for the Hounds. Cabrini tacked on another goal before Salvatore scored again. The Cavaliers ran off five more goals to lead 8-2 with 5:36 left on the clock in the first period Moravian countered with three goals, two by Salvatore and one from sophomore Victoria Salica as the Blue & Grey cut the deficit to 8-5 after 15 minutes of action
  • Moravian began the second quarter with two goals from junior midfielder Alex Cherenson to get within a goal at 8-7 with ten minutes left in the period. However, Cabrini scored the next four goals to head to the intermission with a 12-7 edge
  • The Cavaliers opened the third period with a goal before Salvatore found the net for the Hounds. Cabrini then scored the next four goals for a 17-8 advantage after 45 minutes of play
  • Cabrini outscored the Greyhounds 5-1 in the fourth quarter with Moravian's goal coming from junior Madi Dippel

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had six players register a point with Salvatore netting five goals to go with five draw controls and a pair of ground balls
  • Cherenson had two goals while Dippel added a goal, an assist and three draw controls
  • Salica netted a goal while freshmen midfielder Reagan Reiner and attack Melissa Elefonte each had an assist
  • Senior defenders Keara Reilly and Alise Downey both had three ground balls with Reilly adding three caused turnovers and Downey causing two turnovers. Senior defender Olivia Williams scooped up two ground balls
  • Sophomore goalie Kayla Graef recorded 14 saves to go with three ground balls
