Greyhounds Fall to Muhlenberg in 2025 Season Opener

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's lacrosse squad opened the 2025 season with a 14-9 loss to rival Muhlenberg College on John Makuvek Field Wednesday.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds scored the first three goals of the match with senior attack Jackie Salvatore opening the scoring just 1:36 into the contest. Freshman midfielder Kathyrn Hunsinger and junior midfielder Victoria Salica added goals for the 3-0 lead. The Mules countered with the final three goals of the period to knot the score at 3-3 after 15 minutes of action
  • The Mules scored the first two goals of the second quarter to move out to a 5-3 lead before Hunsinger scored again. Muhlenberg added two more tallies to take a 7-4 edge into the locker room
  • The Mules found the net five times in the third quarter while Hunsinger scored with 23 seconds left in the period to cut the Muhlenberg advantage to 12-5 after 45 minutes of action
  • The Greyhounds put four goals in the net in the fourth quarter with senior midfielder Madi Dippel scoring twice and junior midfielder Giana Lotito and sophomore attack Melissa Elefonte both scored. However, the Mules added two goals to seal the contest 

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had seven players record a point with Hunsinger netting three goals
  • Salvatore registered a goal and two assists to go with three draw controls, two ground balls and two caused turnovers while Dippel posted two goals
  • Salica, Elefonte and Lotito all scored once goal while senior midfielder Alex Cherenson had an assist
  • Graduate student defender Keara Reilly contributed three ground balls, three draw controls and a pair of caused turnovers while freshman defender Alana McBrearty scooped up three ground balls and senior midfielder Isabella Ziccardi had two ground balls
  • Junior goalie Kayla Graef recorded nine saves and three ground balls
