Hounds Fall at Juniata in First Landmark Conference Setback of 2025

HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's lacrosse team trailed 4-0 early in the second quarter and fell 13-11 to host Juniata College in Landmark Conference action Saturday.

How It Happened

  • The Eagles scored the only two goals of the first quarter for a 2-0 edge after 15 minutes of action
  • Juniata also netted the opening two goals of the second quarter to extend the advantage to 4-0. Senior attack Jackie Salvatore put the Hounds on the scoreboard with 11:38 on the clock, but the Eagles added two more goals. Salvatore and freshman midfielder Kathryn Hunsinger both netted goal in the final 5:22 of the half while Juniata also had a pair of goals to take an 8-3 edge into the intermission
  • The Eagles opened the second half with two goals to extend the advantage to 10-3. Salvatore and senior midfielder Alex Cherenson scored goals before Juniata added one more. Hunsinger finished the quarter with a late goal to pull the Blue & Grey within 11-6 after 45 minutes of play
  • Cherenson scored just ten seconds into the fourth quarter; however, the Eagles scored a minute later. Senior midfielder Madi Dippel and Salvatore both netted a goal while Juniata found the net with 2:46 remaining for a four-goal edge. Hunsinger scored twice quickly after the final Eagles' goal to make it 13-11, but Moravian was unable to get any closer over the final two minutes

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had five different players record a point with Salvatore registering four goals and five assists to go with five draw controls
  • Hunsinger netted four goals to go along with a pair of ground balls while Cherenson had two goals, two ground balls and two draw controls
  • Dippel had a goal, three ground balls, three caused turnovers and two draw controls while sophomore attack Melissa Elefonte had two assists
  • Graduate student defender Keara Reilly and freshman defender Alanna McBrearty both had two ground balls
  • Junior Kayla Graef posted eight saves and three ground balls
  • The Hounds held a 32-28 advantage in shots, and the Blue & Grey were 19-for-21 on clearing attempts
