Korpics Named as Landmark Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week

Junior goalkeeper Payce Korpics was named this week's Landmark Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week.

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian University junior goalie Payce Korpics has been named as the Landmark Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week for her performance last week.

Korpics made six saves and posted her first career solo shutout in a 2-0 week for the Greyhounds including a win in the 2022 Landmark Conference opener. Korpics started, made three saves in the first half and earned the win in a 1-0 victory over Stockton University. She then made three saves in her first career shutout in a 1-0 win at Juniata College. The contest marked the first time in Korpics' career that she played all 90 minutes with Moravian usually rotating goalies at halftime, however, an injury had Korpics needing to play the entire match at Juniata.

"Payce has been outstanding for us this season and continues her strong play from last season," stated Head Coach Jeff Ykoruk. "She stepped up big for us on Saturday with Paige going down hurt. She played an outstanding 90 minutes and dealt with many restarts in the second half."

The Greyhounds, who are 4-2-2 overall and 1-0 in Landmark Conference action, are slated to return to the pitch on Wednesday, September 28 for a non-conference match at Eastern University beginning at 4:00 p.m.
