Greyhounds Top Eastern on DeFranco’s First Career Goal

WAYNE, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's soccer team posted its third straight 1-0 shutout, defeating host Eastern University in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon. 

How It Happened

  • The squads played a scoreless first half.  Sophomore midfielder Lexi Rushatz fired a pair of shots just over the crossbar in the first 13 minutes of action while junior forward Lindsay Mullin was sent in on a breakaway with just over eight minutes left in the first half; however, her low shot was saved to keep the match scoreless
  • Sophomore midfielder Sydney DeFranco broke the tie in the 52nd minute when she put a shot high into the center of the goal
  • Neither team was able to find the net the rest of the way

Inside the Numbers

  • The goal for DeFranco was the first of her career
  • Junior goalie Payce Korpics recorded two saves for her second straight shutout
  • Moravian had an 18-5 advantage in shots including 9-2 on goal, and the Greyhounds posted a 6-3 edge in corner kicks
