BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College baseball team dropped an 8-2 decision to The University of Scranton Sunday afternoon in the Greyhounds' final home Landmark Conference game of the season.

The Hounds collected eight hits in the game with senior center fielder Anthony Gaetaniello and junior designated hitter David Wodzsiz each going 2-for-5 with Gaetaniello scoring a run and adding a double to move into a tie for ninth in school history with 29 doubles in his career and Wodzsiz driving in one.

Junior Dan Morrin made the start on the mound for Moravian and allowed four runs, three earned, on seven hits to go with three strikeouts in six innings of action. Junior Nicholas Mazzella tossed one inning while junior Bryan Schoch recorded one strikeout in 1.2 innings. Sophomore Kevin Shields faced the final batter of the game.

The Royals scored an unearned run in the top of the first inning and would add two more runs in the second for a 3-0 advantage.

Moravian scored both of its runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to pull within a run at 3-2. Sophomore second baseman Tim Heard drew a one-out walk before a bunt single by Gaetaniello. Wodzsisz followed with an RBI single to score Heard and move Gaetaniello to third. Sophomore right fielder Austin Markowski would then hit an infield RBI single to score Gaetaniello for the 139th time in his career as he moved into sole possession of second place in the Greyhounds' record books.

Scranton answered back with a run in the top of the sixth inning, and the Royals added two runs in the seventh and two more in the ninth frame to finish off the scoring.

The Hounds are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, May 6 when the squad heads to Washington, D.C. to finish a halted game with The Catholic University of America from March 18. The contest will resume at 2:00 p.m. with Moravian leading 1-0 and at the plate in the top of the fifth inning.
