Field Hockey Ready for Exciting 2015 Campaign

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- With a strong group of returning players as well as a good incoming freshman the Moravian College Field hockey team looks to better their performance from the last season.

"I am very excited about our team this year, I really like the girls energy and the amount of effort they have been putting in this camp," stated Head Coach Amy Endler. "We have been having two-a-days for the last week and a half or so and this far I have really like how the girls have stepped up and committed themselves to playing".

In the attacking zone, senior forward Kelly O'Donnell, who netted six goals last season while assisting on five more, leads the Greyhounds. Just behind O'Donnell in scoring was junior forward Erin Tiwold, who punched also punched in six goals and tallied up two assists. Also contributing to the Hounds was junior midfielder/forward Christina Duddy, adding three goals and three assist for the team. "One player we are really impressed with this camp has been junior forward Kyla Rodrigues" commented Coach Endler. "She came into camp in great condition and are really hoping that she will step up this season and help the team in scoring". Last season Rodrigues scored two goals and had four assists.

On the defensive side of the field is junior defender Shauna Poling, who led the team with seven defensive saves last season while also netting one goal. Also chipping in on the defensive front is senior midfielder/defender Rebecca Hamel. Last season Hamel found the back of the cage four times and also adding one assist.

In goal for the Greyhounds is junior Megan Kanyuk, who started in all 18 games last season. She played in total 1,269 minutes in net while tallying up 92 save, three shutouts and boasting a 2.26 goals against average.

Moravian will start off its season with a home match versus DeSales University at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2 at Betty Prince Field.
