Hamel and Rodrigues Named Scholars of Distinction

GLEN ALLEN, Va. --- Senior Rebecca Hamel and junior Kyla Rodrigues from the Moravian College field hockey team have been named to the ZAG Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III Scholars of Distinction.

"As scholars of distinction, Becca and Kyla have certainly set a high standard for themselves as student-athletes," stated Head Coach Amy Endler. "To achieve the highest level of excellence for four and three years respectively, takes dedication, determination, and desire day in and day out. They certainly have led the way for the underclassmen to follow."

The duo is part of the 172 NCAA Division III student-athletes that earned the award, which is given to student-athletes that have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2015-16 academic year. A total of 10 Landmark Conference student-athletes earned the Scholars of Distinction honors.

The NFHCA added the Scholars of Distinction to its postseason awards in 2012-13, and Moravian has had nine student-athletes honored including Hamel for the fourth straight year while Rodrigues picked up the honor for a third consecutive year.

Rodrigues finished the season with three goals and six assists for 12 points. Hamel added two goals and two assists for the Greyhounds while both players started in all 18 games for Moravian.
