Hamel, O'Donnell & Vazquez Named 2015 Moravian Field Hockey Captains

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Seniors Rebecca Hamel, Kelly O'Donnell and Ely Vazquez have been named the captains of the 2015 Moravian College field hockey team.

"Our tri-captains this year bring a wealth of experience onto the field," commented Head Coach Amy Endler, who is entering her 13th season at the helm of the program. "All are four-year members of the team and are multi-year starters. We will need all of their experience and leadership to guide this team that has quite a few newcomers. Kelly will be counted on to anchor the forward line while Rebecca and Ely will be the strength in the midfield. I am looking forward to a great senior year from all three."

Hamel, a midfielder, has started all 35 matches over the last two seasons and has played in a total of 47 contests in her career. She has contributed five goals, two assists and one defensive save in her career. Also a role model off the court, Hamel has a 4.0 grade-point average in a dual major of physics and mathematics. She has been a two-time member of the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll, a three-time selection to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III National Academic Team and a three-year honoree as a NFHCA Division III Scholar of Distinction.

O'Donnell, a forward, has started 49 of the 51 matches she has played in a Greyhound uniform. O'Donnell has netted 16 goals during her career with six game-winning goals. She has also added eight assists for a career total of 44 points.

Vazquez, also a midfielder, started all 18 matches a year ago for the Hounds and has played in 44 career contests. She has one goal and two assists for Moravian, and she has added one defensive save.

Moravian is scheduled to open its 2015 season on Tuesday, September 2 when the squad hosts DeSales University in a non-conference match at Betty Prince Field beginning at 4:00 p.m.
