Hounds Fall to Drew in Conference Play

MADISON, N.J. --- The Moravian College field hockey team fell to Landmark Conference opponent Drew University by a final score of 4-1 Saturday afternoon in the final game of the Greyhounds' season.

Moravian started off the game with a great chance in the fifth minute from senior forward Kelly O'Donnell put her shot off of the post. Then in the 10th minute the Greyhounds had another shot come from junior forward Erin Tiwold that was not able to sneak past the goaltender. At the end of the first half the Hounds would be trailing Drew 2-0.

In the second half, the Blue and Grey found a sequence of chances coming off of a penalty corner take by junior midfielder Kyla Rodrigues. The first shot after the corner came off of Rodrigues stick but that was saved by the goalie. Then moments later, O'Donnell launched another shot on goal but again the Rangers goalie made the save. Finally the Hounds were able to score, when junior defender Shauna Poling put the ball onto O'Donnell's stick and then she was able to fire the ball into the back of the cage for her 11 goal of the season. O'Donnell's goal moves her into sixth in career goals in the Moravian record books and will finish in sixth for career points with 65.

On the defensive side of the field the Hounds found a defensive save made by senior Ely Vazquez, which is her third of the season. In net was junior goalie Megan Kanyuk, who made six saves on the day to bring her season total to a school record 210.
