Hounds Drop Non-Conference Match to William Paterson University

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College field hockey team battled versus William Paterson University in a non-conference match at Rocco Calvo Field Saturday afternoon, falling to the Pioneers 5-1.

The Greyhounds battled hard throughout the game. Senior goalkeeper Megan Kanyuk made six of her 11 saves in the first half. The Hounds had three shots in the first half and only took two penalty corners. "We played much better in the second half, we played with a little more urgency and made better stick to stick passes," commented Head Coach Amy Endler after the game. "We took a lot of corners in the second half and worked really hard to try and come back, but it's tough when you go down by so many at half time."

In the second half, to keep it a close game, junior defender Shauna Poling made a great defensive save to keep the score at 3-0 in the 38th minute. Not long after that sophomore defender Katie Morrison made another great defensive save to keep the game close. Senior forward Kelly O'Donnell found the back of the cage off of a penalty corner, after time had expired, on a pass by junior forward Kyla Rodrigues.

The Greyhounds will face off against Cedar Crest College on Wednesday, September 16 at 4:00 p.m. on Betty Prince Field.
