Field Hockey Drops Non-Conference Game to King's

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's field hockey team dropped its non-conference match with King's College (Pa.) Wednesday afternoon by a final score of 5-2.

The Greyhounds were able to find the back of the cage once in each half. In the first period, freshman midfielder Elizabeth Hrehovcik found the back of the net off of a pass from junior midfielder Kyla Rodrigues in the 15th minute to tie the contest at 1-1. Moravian would trail the Monarchs at the end of the first period, 2-1, as the Hounds scored on their only shot of the opening 35 minutes.

The second half went back-and-forth but unfortunately the Monarchs found the back of the net three more times before the end of the game. The Hounds were able to find another goal before the contest was over to try to get back in it. Junior forward Erin Tiwold found the back of the net off of a pass by junior midfielder Christina Duddy in the 66th minute. The ball was inserted in by senior midfielder Rebecca Hamel off of a penalty corner, and her pass found Duddy, who was able to knock it over to Tiwold. The goal was the seventh of the fall for Tiwold

Junior goalkeeper Megan Kanyuk made 12 saves for Moravian to giver her 154 saves for her career, moving Kanyuk to seventh in school history.

Next up for the Greyhounds is their Landmark Conference opener versus Goucher College on Saturday, September 26 at 4:00 p.m. as Moravian plays its fourth contest in a five-match road trip.
