Hounds Top Immaculata, 5-2, as Field Hockey Goes to 3-0 for 1st Time since 2004

IMMACULATA, Pa. --- The Moravian College field hockey squad remained undefeated in 2015 with its third straight victory as the Greyhounds jumped out to a 5-0 lead and earned a 5-2 win at Immaculata University in non-conference action Wednesday evening.

The Hounds are 3-0 on the year, the first time since 2004 that Moravian has won its first three contests of the season.

Moravian scored four of its five goals in the opening 30:08 of action with junior forward Erin Tiwold starting the scoring in the eighth minute with a shot that went in off of the goalkeeper's pads for Tiwold's second goal of the season off of a pass from senior midfielder Rebecca Hamel. Senior forward Kelly O'Donnell pushed the lead to 2-0 in the 23rd minute with a goal off of a pass from junior midfielder Christina Duddy.

Freshman midfielder Elizabeth Hrehovcik added her second tally of the fall in the 29th minute while Hamel finished off the first half scoring in the 31st minute with her first goal of the year.

O'Donnell netted the final goal for the Greyhounds, her team-leading fifth marker of the season, in the 45th minute off of a pass from junior forward Kyla Rodrigues.

The Mighty Macs put up a late fight, scoring twice in the final 3:02 but junior goalie Megan Kanyuk made seven saves to earn the victory for the Greyhounds.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Saturday, September 12 when the squad hosts William Paterson University in a non-conference match at Rocco Calvo Field starting at 2:00 p.m. The Hounds will be hosting their annual Alumni game on Saturday at noon on the turf.
