Field Hockey Falls in Final Home Match of 2015

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College field hockey team dropped its final home match of the 2015 season, a hard-fought battle against The University of Scranton down on the turf at Rocco Calvo Field on Moravian's Senior Day by a final score of 9-2 Sunday afternoon.

The Hounds got the scoring started when junior forward Erin Tiwold found the back of the net in the 18th minute. Tiwold's goal came off of a great pass from junior Kyla Rodrigues, who pulled the goalie away from the net then slid the ball right over to Tiwold, who buried it into the back of the net. It was Tiwold's ninth goal of the season. The Greyhounds other goal came off of a penalty stroke in the 32nd minute. Moravian sent in senior midfielder Rebecca Hamel to take the shot, and she buried into the back of the cage for her second goal of the season.

On the defensive side of the field, freshman midfielder Jocelyn Vanic made a key defensive save for the Hounds. In the net for the Blue and Grey was junior goalkeeper Megan Kanyuk made 14 saves on the day to bring her season total to 189 saves.

Up next for Moravian will be its final non-conference match of the year with a contest at Wilkes University on Thursday, October 29 starting at 7:00 p.m.
