O'Donnell's Hat Trick Leads Hounds to 7-0 Shutout of Bryn Mawr

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Senior forward Kelly O'Donnell scored her first career hat trick, and she added an assist as the Moravian College field hockey team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 7-0 non-conference victory over Bryn Mawr College on a warm Rocco Calvo Field turf Saturday afternoon.

"I am very pleased with how the team played today," commented Head Coach Amy Endler. "Our passing was excellent and our transition between offense and defense was right on point. It was also good to see us finishing in the circle and getting contributions from different players."

O'Donnell didn't need long to get the Hounds on the scoreboard as she knocked in a rebounds after a save just 1:48 into the contest for her second goal of the season. O'Donnell made the Greyhounds lead 2-0 in the 11th minute as she tapped in a crossing pass from junior forward Erin Tiwold. Junior forward Christina Duddy pushed the lead to 3-0 with her first goal of the fall as she knocked a loose ball in from the left side of the cage in the 26th minute, and Tiwold would make the advantage 4-0 in the first half as O'Donnell sent her in on a breakaway down the middle off a pass from the left side.

O'Donnell completed her hat trick just 1:35 into the second half as she fired a shot from the left side that bounced off of the right post and into the cage. O'Donnell's hat trick is the 16th in school history at Moravian.

"Kelly played very well today and it was great to see her get a hat trick," noted Endler. "She has really stepped up her game as a senior and we will need her to continue that as the season progresses."

Junior forward Kyla Rodrigues knocked in the pass from senior midfielder Rebecca Hamel in the 38th minute while freshman Elizabeth Hrehovcik netted her first career goal in the 46th minute when she reversed in a pass from Rodrigues.

Junior Megan Kanyuk earned her fourth career shutout and first of the season in the victory.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Wednesday, September 9 in a non-conference match at Immaculata University beginning at 7:00 p.m.
