HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's soccer team raced out to a 3-0 first half lead on its way to a 6-1 victory at Juniata College on Saturday to begin the 2018 Landmark Conference season.

The Greyhounds, now 6-1-1 overall on the year, took a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute when sophomore midfielder Val Monaco netted her first goal of the season off of a pass from freshman forward Megan Chesney. The Hounds would extend the lead to 2-0 just over two minutes later when senior midfielder Aimee Manley deposited a pass from senior forward Gabby Stelzmiller into the net for her third goal of the fall. Stelzmiller would get into the scoring list in the 25th minute when she knocked in a pass from Chesney for her third goal of the season for the 3-0 halftime lead.

Stelzmiller scored again just 51 seconds into the second half on a penalty kick for her second marker of the match and the 15th of her career. Three minutes later Stelzmiller figured in on her fourth straight goal as she sent in a corner kick that senior midfielder Shae Duka put into the net for her third goal of the season.

Juniata would break the Moravian defense's scoreless run at 489 minutes when the Eagles scored on a penalty kick in the 51st minute. The Greyhounds had not allowed a goal since the 31st minute of a double-overtime draw on September 5 and had posted four straight shutout victories.

Moravian would get one more goal in the 65th minute when junior defender Paige Weiss knocked in a pass from sophomore defender Lexi Peploe for her first goal of the season.

Sophomore goalie Siobhan O'Sullivan-Evangelista started in goal and had three saves in the first 45 minutes for the Blue and Grey while junior keeper Jamie Daly recorded one save in the second half. Moravian had a 15-9 advantage in shots and a 9-0 edge in corner kicks in the win.

The Hounds are slated to return to action on Wednesday, September 26 when Moravian hosts Stevenson (Md.) University in a non-conference contest beginning at 7:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field.
