Greyhounds Fall 5-2 at Elizabethtown in Landmark Conference Semifinals

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The third seeded Moravian College women's tennis team was knocked out of the 2017 Landmark Conference Tournament by a 5-2 loss at second seed Elizabethtown College in Semifinal action Wednesday afternoon.

The Greyhounds, who finish the season at 10-7, fell behind 3-0 in doubles action. The second doubles squad of freshmen Eiman Nazif and Lauren Steinert nearly earned a point before falling 9-7 in the last doubles contest to finish.

The Blue Jays earned their fourth point in the first singles match to be completed at fourth singles. Moravian senior Brittney Eady would get the Greyhounds on the scoreboard with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at first singles as she completed her career with 52-18 singles record, tied for the eighth most wins in school history. Eady also finished her career with a 47-24 doubles mark, tied for second in program history. Junior Grace Bailly earned a 7-5, 6-3 victory at sixth singles to cut the Elizabethtown advantage to 4-2 but just a minute later, the Blue Jays earned the winning team point at fifth singles to end the contest.

"I'm proud of the team's effort, not just today, but all year long. I think they can be very proud of what they have accomplished," stated Head Coach Alan Heverly. "I'm looking forward to coach them again next year."
