Five Former Greyhounds Named to MAC 100 Century Tennis Teams

MAC 100 Century Teams

ANNVILLE, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's and women's tennis teams have five former student-athletes named to the MAC 100 Century Team. Jason Toedter ('04) is from the 1994-2003 era for men while three of the four women are from the 1912-2003 era and the other is from the 2004-2012 era.

As a part of the MAC 100 celebration, the Middle Atlantic Conference is recognizing the top athletes from conference history, naming student-athletes to Century Teams in each sport from each era. Eras were delineated based on conference membership and sport sponsorship. The number of individuals selected per team varies depending upon the nature of the sport. Century Teams were selected from an online fan vote combined with the MAC Sports Information Directors vote. Team members will receive a commemorative gold coin, distributed to their alma matter.

Toedter was a four-time Commonwealth All-Conference First Team honoree, and he was the Commonwealth Rookie of the Year in 2001 and Player of the Year in 2004. Toedter won the MAC Singles Championship in 2004, and he finishes his career with a school record 54 singles victories as part of a 54-18 career record. He was 37-12 as Moravian's top singles player, and Toedter also had a 37-24 career mark in doubles action while helping Moravian to the playoffs as a junior and senior. Toedter is still part of the Moravian tennis program, serving as an assistant coach with the women's team.

The women's tennis team had four members named to the MAC 100 Century Team starting with Cluny Erickson ('97), who was a four-year letterwinner. Erickson had a 37-27 career mark in singles action, and she was 39-10 in doubles action including a 19-0 record in 1996 with fellow MAC 100 Century Team member Lynne Grzywacz ('99) as the duo won the 199 MAC Doubles Championship.

Grzywacz finished her career with a school record 69 singles wins as part of a 69-6 career mark, and she also set the school record in doubles wins with 55, and is now second in school history with a 55-6 career doubles mark. Grzywacz became Moravian's first MAC Singles Champion in 1997 and won the title again in 1998 to go with her doubles title in 1996 with Erickson. Gryzwacz helped Moravian win its first three MAC team titles in 1996, 1997 and 1998.

Jennifer Genevese ('03) also helped Moravian to three MAC titles in 2000, 2001 and 2002 as she posted career records of 53-13 in singles action and 50-13 in doubles play. Genevese won the 2001 MAC Doubles Championship, and she was a two-time MAC Commonwealth All-Star selection as well as a three-time MAC Academic Honor Roll player.

Becky Deringer ('05) led the Greyhounds to MAC titles in 2001, 2002 and 2003 while posting a career singles record of 53-15 and a career doubles mark of 46-8. Deringer won the MAC Doubles Championship in 2003, and she was the MAC Commonwealth Rookie of the Year in 2001 and Player of the Year in 2004. Deringer was also a three-time Commonwealth All-Conference selection and three-time MAC Academic Honor Roll player.
