Men's Tennis Set to Begin Landmark Slate Saturday at Goucher

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's tennis team will open its 2013 Landmark Conference season at Goucher College on Saturday, March 16th at the Bare Hills Racquet Club in Baltimore beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Second-year Head Coach Art Smith has the Greyhounds looking for their seventh straight postseason appearance. Moravian, which was picked sixth in the men's Landmark Conference Preseason Poll, is 1-4 on the season with all the matches played on the road including four contests in Orlando, Florida last week on Spring Break. The Greyhounds won't play their home opener until Monday, March 18th when the host Ursinus College in a non-conference match at Hoffman Courts beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Freshman Matt Tuorto leads the Greyhounds in singles with a 5-6 record, and he has seen action at both first and second singles. Freshmen C.J. Widdifield and John Wylie each have a pair of singles wins with Widdifield seeing action at fifth & sixth singles and Wylie playing at first and second singles. Tuorto and Wylie have combined for a pair of victories in doubles action as Moravian's first doubles tandem.

Senior Brad Kutcha, sophomore Lewis Cooper and freshman Libario Obeid each have one singles win this season with Cooper and Obeid, who both missed the fall portion of the season, have combined for a doubles victory at second doubles. Widdifield has two doubles wins this year while Kutcha has one doubles victory.
