FREDERICKSBURG, Va. --- The Moravian College men's tennis team had four individuals compete on the opening day of the 2012 United States Tennis Association - Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southeast Regional hosted by the University of Mary Washington Saturday.

Freshman John Wylie competed in the Championship Singles Draw, falling to ninth seeded Abhishek Alla from Johns Hopkins University, 6-0, 6-2 in the opening round, and Wylie fell to Andy Dougherty from Haverford College in the first round of the consolation rounds.

Freshman Matt Tuorto won his opening match in the B3 Singles Draw, 8-3, over Jordan Domsky from Penn State-Abington before being knocked out of the tournament in the quarterfinals with an 8-2 loss to Jake Weisenthal from Haverford College. 

Freshman C.J. Widdifield fell to Nick Parker from Roanoke College in the opening round of the B6 Singles Draw, and Widdifield will play Chandler Weston from Randolph-Macon College on Sunday, September 30th in the consolation quarterfinals at 9:15 a.m.

Junior Brian Welsko dropped an 8-1 decision to Mike Belton from Bridgewater (Va.) College in the opening round of the B7 Singles Draw, and Welsko is scheduled to play Brian Sommer from Randolph-Macon on Sunday in the consolation quarterfinals of the draw at 10:30 a.m.

Wylie and Tuorto competed in the Championship Doubles Draw, defeating Logan Moore and Elliot Perow from Juniata College, 8-4, in the Round of 32.  The duo would fall to fifth seeded Kevin Caulfield and Danny Himelstein of Haverford in the Round of 16, 8-0.

Welsko and Widdifield also competed in the B3 Doubles Draw Saturday. The duo fell to Adam Owen and Drew Tomajczyk of Virginia Wesleyan College, 8-3, in the opening round before earning a win by injury default in the consolation quarterfinals. Welsko and Widdifield will take on Colby Beighey and Chris Collins from Grove City College on Sunday at 8:00 a.m. in the consolation semifinals.
