Moravian Rallies in Fourth Before Falling to Catholic in Landmark Conference First Round

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The fifth seeded Moravian University men's lacrosse squad rallied from a four-goal deficit in the fourth quarter to tie the contest before falling to fourth seed and host The Catholic University of America in the Landmark Conference Tournament First Round Tuesday. 

How It Happened

  • The Cardinals netted the first two goals of the contest before junior attack Ryan Kokoszka found the net for the Greyhounds just over three minutes into the match. Catholic got the goal back just 24 seconds later while senior midfielder Aaron Judge netted a man-up goal to pull the Hounds within one at 3-2. The Cardinals tacked on more tally to lead 4-2 after 15 minutes of action
  • The Blue & Grey started the second quarter with another goal from Judge while Catholic netted the other three goals in the period to head to the intermission with a 7-3 lead
  • Each squad had one goal in the third quarter with senior short stick defensive midfielder Aden Moskovitz scoring for the Hounds as the Cardinals had an 8-4 edge after 45 minutes of play
  • Judge found the net once again to start the fourth quarter to make it 8-5; however, Catholic scored for a 9-5 advantage with just 8:25 remaining. Moravian ran off four straight goals to knot the score at 9-9. Senior short stick defensive midfielder Kyle Weiss tallied at the 7:16 mark while freshman face-off specialist Owen Deady netted his first career goal just six seconds later. Moravian had a man-up advantage for two minutes and capitalized with sophomore attack Kyle Gann and Judge scoring to make it 9-9 with 5:23 to go. However, the Cardinals netted three goals in the final 2:31 to capture the victory

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had eight different players record a point with Judge netting four goals to give him a single season school record of 48 goals in 2025, and he also had two ground balls in the match
  • Moskovitz added a goal and an assist to go with three caused turnovers while Kokoszka, Weiss, Deady and Gann each had one goal. Kokoszka scooped up three ground balls while Weiss added two ground balls and Deady was 10-for-21 on face-offs with six ground balls
  • Graduate student attack Trevor Dzama registered three assists to complete his career with a school and Landmark Conference record 165 assists and a Moravian record 258 points
  • Sophomore attack Nick Coffaro contributed one assist
  • Senior defender Jason Levy had four ground balls and two caused turnovers while junior defender James Panico added three ground balls and junior defender Mike Sickler posted four caused turnovers and two ground balls
  • Sophomore goalie Liam Kelly recorded 11 saves and three ground balls
