Hounds, Nahf Capture First at Caslin Classic

TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian University men's cross country team captured first place at the Caslin Classic hosted by Goucher College Saturday. 

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds scored 24 points to finish first of six teams that scored and 32 points ahead of Hagerstown Community College. There were another four schools with runners in the race but not enough to earn a team score
  • Sophomore Owen Nahf took first of the 57 runners with a time of 26:43.3 on the 8,000-meter course, just edging teammate and fifth-year senior Shane Houghton, who clocked a time of 26:43.5
  • Moravian's other three scoring runners placed in the top ten with sophomore Nathan Hajel finishing sixth in 28:15.5, sophomore Jake Farrell taking seventh in a time of 28:15.7 and senior Liam Duffy placing eighth at 28:15.9
  • The Hounds saw another six runners come in the top 20 with freshman Bryan Kerchner taking tenth at 28:33.1, sophomore Josh Mangini placing 11th in a time of 28:33.2, sophomore Geoffrey Kleinberg finishing 12th in 28:42.3, freshman Joe Allegro in 13th with the same time as Kleinberg, junior Brendon Ward placing 15th in 28:57.2 and sophomore Casey Frank taking 16th in a the same time as Ward
  • Moravian had six other runners in the race with freshman William Cooper in 23rd with a time of 30:1.7, senior Christian Jancsarics taking 27th in 30:50.3, freshman Jackson Gaffney placing 28th in 30:50.5, junior Paul Petre finishing 33rd in a time of 31:36.4, freshman John Breslin taking 34th in 31:47.2 and sophomore Wyatt Poniktera finishing 42nd in a time of 33:21.9 
  • The meet was a preview of the course that the Hounds will run the 2022 Landmark Conference Championship race on in three weeks
