Women's Lacrosse Falls to Scranton in Non-Conference Match

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's lacrosse team dropped an 18-7 non-conference match to the University of Scranton at Blue & Grey Field.

The match-up was between future Landmark Conference opponents when the Greyhounds join the conference next year. Moravian is playing this spring as an independent after restarting the varsity program this year after five club seasons.

Freshman midfielder/attack Jillian Picciuto led the Blue and Grey with three goals while sophomore midfielder Alexis Kersten found the cage twice. Freshman midfielder Eileen Rolwood and freshman attack Elizabeth Charache each scored a goal for Moravian.

Sophomore Elisabeth Pontius started in the cage for the Greyhounds and made five saves in just over 38 minutes of action. Freshman Kelley Gavin stopped six shots in the final 22 minutes. Rolwood led Moravian with three caused turnovers and grabbed three draw controls while Picciuto added two draw controls and senior midfielder/defender Caroline McCarthy had two caused turnovers.

Moravian is scheduled to begin a three-match road trip with a non-conference match at Gwynedd Mercy University on Wednesday, March 23 beginning at 3:30 p.m.
