Balanced Scoring Attack Leads Hounds Past Delaware Valley

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's lacrosse team had four different players find the cage four times as the Greyhounds posted an 18-5 non-conference win at Delaware Valley University Saturday.

Freshman attack/midfielder Jillian Picciuto had four goals and three assists for a team-high seven points for the Hounds, and Picciuto has tied the school record with 15 assists on the seaosn while freshman midfielder Eileen Rolwood and freshman attack Jessica Pisano each had four goals and two assists. Sophomore midfielder Alexia Johnston also netted four goals to go with one assist. Sophomore midfielder Alexis Kersten and freshman midfielder/defender Dalia Aguilar had Moravian's other two goals while freshman defender Jacqueline LaCava had an assist.

Freshman goalie Kelley Gavin improved to 3-3 on the season with four saves in 48 minutes of action while sophomore Elisabeth Pontius played the final 12 minutes of the contest. Picciuto also led Moravian with eight draw controls and four ground balls while Rolwood added four draw controls and four ground balls. Kersten, Johnston and freshman defender Melissa Webber each scooped up three ground balls while Aguilar caused a pair of turnovers.

Picciuto gave the Blue and Grey a 1-0 lead just 1:29 into action, and Moravian scored the first four goals of the match. The Aggie scored their second goal to cut the lead to 7-2 before Picciuto scored her third goal of the afternoon with just over 10 minutes left in the first half. Pisano added three straight goals and Pisano scored again to give the Greyhounds a 12-2 lead at halftime.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, March 30 in a non-conference match at Lancaster Bible College beginning at 4:00 p.m.
