Picciuto Sets Two School Records as Hounds Top Gwynedd Mercy

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. --- Moravian College freshman midfielder/attack Jillian Picciuto set school records with six assists and 11 total points as she helped the Greyhounds post a 17-5 non-conference win at Gwynedd Mercy University Wednesday afternoon.

Picciuto added five goals on the day, and she had tied the previous record for assists in a match with four in the first half. Picciuto's six assists break the record of four set by both Lynda Kauffman and Erica Spatz during the 2008 season, and Picciuto's 11 points surpass the mark of 10 set by Lindsey Lustrino in 2007 and tied by both Kauffman and Spatz in 2008.

Freshman attack Jessica Pisano added three goals and an assist while freshman midfielder/defender Dalia Aguilar added a hat trick. Freshman midfielder Eileen Rolwood had two goals and three assists while freshman midfielder Alexia Johnston contributed two goals and an assist. Freshman midfielder Kyleigh Miller had the Hounds' other two goals in the match.

Freshman goalie Kelley Gavin had four saves as the Greyhounds improved to 2-4 on the season. Picciuto had a team-high nine draw controls, tied for the second most in a single match in school history, to go with two caused turnovers while Rolwood added six draw controls and two caused turnovers. Aguilar led Moravian with six ground balls.

Pisano opened the scoring just over three minutes into action, and the teams were tied at 3-3 halfway through the opening 30 minutes. Aguilar's first goal of the match with 11:30 left in the first half gave the Greyhounds the lead for good, and Moravian scored four more times before the intermission for an 8-4 advantage. The Blue and Grey scored the first six goals of the second half to lead 14-4, and the Hounds also scored the last three goals of the contest.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Saturday, March 26 in a non-conference match at Delaware Valley University beginning at 4:00 p.m.
