Hounds Fall at Susquehanna in Non-Conference Action

SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's lacrosse team dropped a 20-8 non-conference match at Susquehanna University Wednesday afternoon as the Greyhounds fell for the first time in five contests.

Freshman midfielder Eileen Rolwood led the Hounds with a hat trick while freshman attack Jessica Pisano had two goals. Freshman midfielder/attack Jillian Picciuto contributed a goal and an assist for Moravian while freshmen midfielder/attack Alexia Johnston and attack Elizabeth Charache each scored a goal.

Freshman goalie Kelley Gavin had five saves for the Blue and Grey in 48 minutes of action while sophomore keeper Elisabeth Pontius played the final 12 minutes. Rolwood had six draw controls, five ground balls and two caused turnovers while Picciuto had four draw controls. Johnston added three draw controls while sophomore attack Kyleigh McGovern scooped up three ground balls.

Picciuto opened the scoring just 1:08 into the match to give Moravian a lead but Susquehanna scored nine straight goals. Rolwood netted two goals along with tallies from Charache and Pisano to cut the deficit to 9-5 before Susquehanna scored the final four goals of the first half for a 13-5 halftime lead. Johnston, Rolwood and Pisano would find the back of the cage in the second half for the Hounds.

Moravian, now 5-5 overall this spring, is scheduled to return to action on Friday, April 8 in a non-conference match versus SUNY Old Westbury that will be played on the grass HUB Quad field beginning at 4:00 p.m.
