Ewald Named ECAC Division III Metro Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week

DANBURY, Conn. --- Moravian College freshman center Nadine Ewald has been named the ECAC Division III Metro Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week for her performance last week.

Ewald averaged a double-double of 14.5 points and 14.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Greyhounds to close out the 2016-17 regular season at 19-6 overall and 11-3 in Landmark Conference action as Moravian will be the third seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament. Ewald, who now has five double-doubles in her debut season including three straight, shot 11-of-20 from the floor and 7-of-9 at the foul line during the week while adding four assists, four blocked shots and three steals as she played 62 of 80 minutes during the week.

Ewald had 19 points, 13 rebounds, two steals, an assist and a blocked shot in a 70-61 victory over Drew University. She finished the regular season with 10 points, 15 boards, three assists, three blocked shots and a steal in a 57-54 loss to No. 23 Catholic University of America to finish the regular season.

"Nadine has had a great week and we are happy she was recognized for her efforts," commented Head Coach Mary Beth Spirk. "She has worked and raised her game each week of the season. It will hopefully continue as we head into playoffs."

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, February 22 in a Landmark Conference Semifinal at No. 19 The University of Scranton beginning at 5:30 p.m.
