Abby Schaffer Competes at New Balance Collegiate Invitational

NEW YORK, N.Y. --- Senior pole vaulter Abby Schaffer of the Moravian College women's indoor track & field team placed 12th in the women's pole vault "championship" on the first day of the New Balance Collegiate Invitational in the New York City Armory Friday evening.

Schaffer clear 3.90 meters (12 feet, 9 1/2 inches), which was the opening height of the meet in the championship flight that had 16 competitors with Schaffer the only student-athlete not from an NCAA Division I school.  Schaffer's height is second on the Track & Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS) list for the NCAA Division III National Championship meet, and already held by Schaffer as she cleared the height for a third straight week.
