Allison Vanek Wins Two Events at Susquehanna Open

SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's track & field team competed in its final meet before the 2012 Landmark Conference Championships, participating in the non-scoring Susquehanna University Open Friday evening.

The Greyhounds were led by sophomore Allison Vanek, who won the pole vault with an ECAC qualifying height of 3.59 meters (11 feet, 9 ¼ inches), and she captured the long jump with an ECAC qualifying leap of 5.19 meters (17 feet, ½ inch).  Vanek's pole vault height is 13th on the Track & Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS) to qualify for the 2012 NCAA Division III National Championships.

Senior Lisa Williamson also had an ECAC qualifying mark in the 200-meter dash, placing fourth with a time of 26.69 seconds.  Senior Kristina Ruggiero finished fifth in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:24.68.

Other top ten finishers for the Greyhounds included freshman Jenny Kratch placing ninth in both the 20-pound weight throw at 11.52 meters (37 feet, 9 ½ inches) and the shot put at 10.28 meters (33 feet, 8 ¾ inches), and freshman Giana Vecchio taking tenth in the triple jump with a leap of 9.74 meters (31 feet, 11 ½ inches).
