Greyhounds Tie for 11th at ECAC DIII Outdoor Championships

TROY, N.Y. --- Junior Micah Leonard finished second in the long jump to lead the Moravian College women's track & field team on the second day of the 2012 ECAC Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Friday.

Moravian had 27 points and finished in a tie for 11th with St. Lawrence University and SUNY Brockport out of 55 teams scoring points in the two-day of the meet.  Ithaca College placed first place with 68 points and is followed by Wheaton (Mass.) College in second place with 60 points and Williams College in third at 43 points.

Leonard was second the long jump with a leap of 5.50 meters (18 feet, ½ inch) to earn eight points for the Greyhounds. 

Moravian's other point on the second day of the meet came from senior Lisa Williamson, who finished eighth in the 100-meter dash in a season best time of 12.57 seconds.  Williamson also finished tenth in the 200-meter dash with a season best time of 25.56 seconds.

In other track results on the second day of the meet, freshman Brielle Sutter was12th in the 400-meter dash in 58.80 seconds, and she was 17th in the 200-meter dash in 25.91 seconds.  Freshman Morgan Redmond was 16th in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:05.72, and the Greyhounds' 4x100-meter relay squad of Williamson, Sutter, Redmond and freshman Brianna Wright took 11th with a time of 49.49 seconds.

Senior Cadee Rockwell finished out her career with a 13th place finish in the 1,500-meter run in 4:48.55 while senior Kristina Ruggiero was 15th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:19.86.

Moravian will close out its season next week at the 2012 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships hosted by Claremont-Mudd Scripps Colleges in Claremont, California from Thursday, May 24 through Saturday, May 26.
