Schaffer Captures Pole Vault at Sam Howell Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. --- Senior Abby Schaffer of the Moravian College women's outdoor track & field team won the pole vault at the non-scoring Sam Howell Invitational hosted by Princeton University.

Schaffer had an ECAC qualifying height of 3.95 meters (12 feet, 11 1/2 inches), which is tied for second on the 2012 Track & Field Results Reporting System list to qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships. Those women ranked in the top 22 individuals and top 16 relays at the end of the season will compete at the national meet.  Schaffer was already ranked tied for second.

Sophomore Allison Vanek finished in a tie for fifth in the pole vault in the meet as well, clearing an ECAC qualifying height of 3.65 meters (11 feet, 11 3/4 inches), which is tenth on the TFRRS list, a spot already held by Vanek

The Greyhounds will return to action on Friday and Saturday, April 13 and 14 when they host the Coach P Open at Rocco Calvo Field and Timothy Breidegam Track. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
