Leonard Leads Greyhounds at Tuppeny Twilight Last Chance Meet

SWARTHMORE, Pa. --- Junior Micah Leonard won the triple jump with a season best leap of 11.76 meters (38 feet, seven inches) to lead the Moravian College women's outdoor track & field team at the 2012 Tuppeny Twilight Last Chance Meet hosted by Swarthmore College Monday evening.

Leonard's winning leap was an ECAC qualifying distance for later in the week, the second best distance in school history and it also moved her into 15th on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list in the event. Those women ranked in the top 22 for individuals and top 16 for relays at the end of the season will compete at the national meet next week in Claremont, California. Leonard also had an ECAC qualifying distance of 5.50 meters (18 feet, 1/2 inch) in the long jump to finish sixth while freshman Hailey Kester placed tenth in the triple jump at 10.10 meters (33 feet, 1 3/4 inches).

On the track, senior Lisa Williamson finished sixth in the 200-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 25.90 seconds while freshman Brielle Sutter took eighth with an ECAC qualifying mark of 26.02 seconds. Freshman Brianna Wright was 14th in 27.24 seconds while senior Kristina Ruggiero took 19th in 28.41 seconds. Ruggiero was also 16th in the 400-meter dash in 1:02.25 while senior Cadee Rockwell had an ECAC qualifying time of 4:46.34 in the 1,500-meter run to place 35th.

Freshman Morgan Redmond took ninth in the 100-meter hurdles in an ECAC qualifying mark of 15.62 seconds while sophomore Jacqueline Olmstead was 12th in 16.67 seconds. Williamson, Sutter, Wright and Redmond combined to turn in an ECAC qualifying time of 49.54 seconds in the 4x100-meter relay that had them finish fifth.

Moravian will return to action on Thursday and Friday, May 17 and 18 at the 2012 ECAC Division III Championships being hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
