Moravian Women Have Four ECAC Qualifiers at DeSchriver Invitational

The Moravian College women's indoor track & field team had four individuals and a relay team hit ECAC qualifying marks in the non-scoring 13th Annual DeSchriver Invitational hosted by East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. 

Junior Micah Leonard was the runner-up in the triple jump at 11.26 meters (36 feet, 11 ½ inches), which qualified for the ECAC Championships.  The distance is also 14th on the Track & Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS) to qualify for the 2012 NCAA Division III National Championships.  Leonard was tied for 14th on the list but improved her distance by two inches on Saturday.  Leonard also ran on Moravian's 4x200-meter relay squad senior Lisa Williamson and freshmen Morgan Redmond and Brielle Sutter as the quartet posted an ECAC qualifying time of 1:48.98.

Freshman Hailey Kester was second while sophomore Allison Vanek was third in the pole vault as both student-athletes cleared 3.36 meters (11 feet, ¼ inch), which qualifies for the 2012 ECAC Division III Championships.  The mark is also tied for 23rd on the TFRRS list.  Vanek is 13th on the TFRRS list while Kester will move up one spot from a tie for 24th.  Freshman Dana Fineman was seventh in the pole vault with an ECAC qualifying height of 3.20 meters (ten feet, six inches).

Sutter was also seventh in the long jump at 4.90 meters (16 feet, one inch), and she was third in the 200-meter dash in 27.03 seconds.  Freshman Giana Vecchio was ninth in the triple jump with a leap of 10.27 meters (33 feet, 8 ½ inches).

In the throws, freshman Jenny Kratch was tenth in the 20-pound weight throw with a toss of 10.96 meters (41 feet, 7 ¼ inches), and she also took tenth in the shot put with a toss of 10.30 meters (33 feet, 9 ½ inches). 

On the track, senior Megan Hallowell took fourth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:28.02 while freshman Jessie Goldberg finished eighth in 20:11.66.  Senior Kristina Ruggiero was seventh in the mile run in 5:38.18 while freshman Emily Lambright took ninth in 5:38.91.  Redmond finished sixth in the 400-meter dash in 1:02.83 while freshman Brianna Wright was eighth in 1:03.59.

Moravian will return to action on Friday, February 10 at the Lafayette College/Rider University Winter Games at the New York City Armory.
