BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team has named seniors Ashton Galasso, Jean Markovic and Mary Zacher as the team's captains for the 2017 season.

"I'm happy to announce Ashton and Jean and Mary as our captains for this year," stated Head Coach Shelley Bauder, who enters her 25th season just 18 wins shy of 500 for her career at Moravian. "All three of them provide different yet outstanding leadership skills and I'm excited to see how they will lead our team this year."

Galasso, a defensive specialist, has recorded 130 digs and 23 service aces in 66 matches for the Hounds while Markovic has posted over 500 digs in each of the last three years as a libero for a career total of 1,612 digs to go along with 168 assists and 110 service aces in 92 matches. Zacher enters the season needing just two kills to hit the 1,000 plateau, and she has added 1,144 digs, 125 service aces, 75 assists and 51 blocks in 101 career matches with the Blue and Grey.

Moravian is slated to open its 2017 season on Friday, September 1 with the 15th Annual Greyhound Premiere Invitational as the Greyhounds are set to play Alvernia University at 4:00 p.m. and Baldwin Wallace (Ohio) College at 8:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall.
