Hounds Sweep Marywood for Seventh Win in Last Eight Matches

SCRANTON, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team swept Marywood University, 3-0, in non-conference action Monday evening as the Greyhounds earned their seventh win in their last eight contests.

The Blue and Grey opened the match by taking the first set 25-19. Moravian won the second game, 25-15, before needing an extra-point to complete the sweep with a 26-24 victory in the third set.

Senior outside hitter Mary Zacher recorded a match-high 16 kills to go along with ten digs and a pair of assists while junior middle blocker Erin Tiger added 12 kills, two blocks and two assists for the Greyhounds. Freshman middle blocker Madi Anslow had four kills and a team high three blocks while junior right side hitter Rachel Farmer added two kills and four digs.

Sophomore setter Victoria Kauffman had 28 assists to run the Hounds' offense in the match, and she added seven digs and four kills. Senior libero Jean Markovic added 12 digs and three service aces while sophomore defensive specialist Alexis Szaro contributed five figs while junior defensive specialist Bridgette Devlin had three digs. Freshman right side hitter Emerson Gieryic posted a pair of kills while graduate student Jackie Finnegan had two blocks and freshman outside hitter Corinne Frick added three digs.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Saturday, September 30 when the squad begins the 2017 Landmark Conference season with matches against Elizabethtown College and Juniata College beginning at 12:00 p.m. in Elizabethtown.
