Hounds Split Tri-Match at FDU-Florham

MADISON, N.J. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team split a pair of matches in a tri-match at FDU-Florham Saturday.

The Hounds dropped their opening match to host FDU-Florham, 25-17, 25-14, 25-23 before earning their second win of the season in straight sets by scores of 25-13, 25-16, 25-14 over St. Joseph's (Long Island) College.

Senior outside hitter Mary Zacher led the Hounds with 14 kills to go with seven digs in the loss to the Devils. Junior middle blocker Erin Tiger contributed 10 kills, two digs, and two blocks while sophomore outside hitter Brooke Kusmider tallied 10 digs and five kills.

Sophomore setter Victoria Kauffman paced the Moravian offense against FDU-Florham with 29 assists to go with four digs and an assist while senior libero Jean Markovic had 12 digs and one assist. Sophomore defensive specialist Alexis Szaro led the Hounds with 18 digs while sophomore defensive specilaist Bridgette Devlin contributed six digs and junior right side hitter Rachel Farmer added three kills and a dig.

Tiger led the Greyhounds in the match against St. Joseph's-LI with eight kills and two digs. Zacher posted six kills, five digs, four blocks, and an assist while freshman middle blocker Madi Anslow added five kills, three blocks and a dig.

Markovic recorded 12 digs in the second match against the Golden Eagles. Kauffman added 21 assists and two digs while freshman outside hitter Corinne Frick had two digs. Kusmider and Szaro both contributed three digs and one assist each.

Moravian is scheduled to play at rival Muhlenberg on Wednesday, September 13 at 7:00 p.m.
