TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian University men's basketball team posted a 97-81 victory at Goucher College in Landmark Conference action Wednesday evening.
How It Happened
- Junior guard Porter Kelly drained a three-pointer to open the scoring for the Hounds, and junior forward Marquis Ratcliff made it 5-0 with a jumper. The Blue & Grey pushed the edge to 10-2 three minutes into action on a three-pointer by senior guard/forward Michael Leonardo. However, the Gophers went on a 13-3 run to take a 15-13 lead with 12:38 left in the first half. After junior forward Liam Cummiskey hit a lay-up to knot the score at 15-15, Goucher ran off another nine points to build a 24-15 edge with just over ten minutes remaining in the opening half
- The Hounds got back within a point at 25-24 after two free throws from Ratcliff with 7:26 to go in the first half, and Moravian retook the lead at 29-27 on a three-pointer by sophomore guard Taylor Perlmutter at the 6:04 mark. The lead changed sides eight times over the next four minutes with the Greyhounds eventually taking a 41-40 edge with 2:02 on the clock when Kelly hit a lay-up. Junior guard Chad Kratzer added a lay-up and a pair of free throws to send the Blue & Grey to the locker room with a 45-40 advantage
- Kratzer also began the second half with a free throw before the Gophers scored five straight points to cut the Hounds' lead to one at 46-45; however, that would be as close as Goucher would get. Moravian stretched the advantage to 11 points at 63-52 after two free throws from Ratcliff at the 12:30 mark, and the Blue & Grey led by 15 points, 72-57, after a lay-up from junior guard Colin Farrell with 9:41 remaining
