Hounds Roll Past Juniata on Senior Day to Finish 2024-25 Regular Season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's basketball squad rolled out to a 32-point first half lead on the way to an 88-64 victory over visiting Juniata College in Landmark Conference action in Johnston Hall Saturday to close out the 2024-25 regular season on Senior Day.

How It Happened

  • The Eagles scored first before junior forward Marquis Ratcliff hit a lay-up to tie the score. The Eagles answered to move ahead 4-2 when Ratcliff gave the Greyhounds the lead for good with a three-pointer at the 17:38 mark. Ratcliff's trey ignited a 24-0 run from the Blue & Grey as two free throws by sophomore guard Taylor Perlmutter made it a 26-4 advantage with 11:37 to play in the half
  • The Hounds pushed the advantage out to 32 points at 40-8 on a three-pointer from sophomore guard George Cutler. Junior guard Porter Kelly beat the first half buzzer to send Moravian to the locker room with a 51-28 edge
  • Senior guard/forward Michael Leonardo opened the second half with a three-pointer, and the Greyhounds had the lead back to 32 points at 64-32 on a lay-up from junior guard Chad Kratzer with 14:51 to play. Moravian controlled the contest the rest of the way
  • Prior to tip-off, the Greyhounds honored senior guard/forward Michael Leonardo and senior manager Jack Saggio, who played as a freshman, for their careers as well as Ratcliff and graduate student guard Alex Dietz on reaching the 1,000-point milestone earlier this season 

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had two players in double digits with Ratcliff netting a game-high 17 points to go with six rebounds and a pair of assists while Leonardo added 12 points, five boards and three assists
  • Sophomore forward Brian Farrell tossed in a career-high nine points while junior forward Liam Cummiskey added eight points
  • Kelly, Kratzer, Culter and freshman forward Brave Haugh all netted six points with Kratzer adding five rebounds, three steals and a pair of assists, Kelly contributing three assists and two rebounds and Haugh posting two boards
  • Dietz and freshman forward Jametric Harris both scored five points with Harris registering three rebounds while Perlmutter finished with four points and three assists
  • Sophomore guard/forward Riley Flood and freshman guard John Kelly both had two points with Flood adding two boards
  • The Hounds shot 31-for-60 from the field, 13-for-27 beyond the three-point line and 13-for-15 at the foul line
  • Moravian had a 37-36 edge on the boards, and the Blue & Grey forced the Eagles into 19 turnovers while committing just 15 turnovers
  • The victory was the 1,000th for the program since action began during the 1935-36 season, and the Hounds have a 1,000-1,019 record since the program began
