BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's basketball team scored 57 points in the first half on the way to a 100-84 victory over visiting Goucher College in Landmark Conference action in Johnston Hall Wednesday evening.
How It Happened
- The Greyhounds opened the scoring with a lay-up from junior guard Chad Kratzer on the first possession, and the Blue & Grey netted the first ten points of the game with a three-pointer by junior forward Marquis Ratcliff making it 10-0 just 2:17 into the contest. The Gophers closed within five points at 15-10 with 14:22 on the clock before the Hounds ran the advantage back to double digits at 27-15 on a three-pointer from junior forward Liam Cummiskey with just over ten minutes left in the first period
- Moravian continued to stretch the advantage throughout the remainder of the first half, taking a 57-31 lead to the locker room after a dunk by Kratzer after stealing a pass
- The Blue & Grey led the entire second half with Goucher closing within 11 points at the 8:30 mark before Moravian extended the lead once again
- The Hounds have eclipsed 100 points in four games this season, the most since the 1959-60 squad that score 100 points five times
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian had four players in double figures led by Ratcliff, who netted a game-high 29 points to go with nine rebounds, three blocked shots, two assists and a pair of steals
- Junior guard Porter Kelly tossed in a career high 25 points while making six three-pointers, and he added five assists and two rebounds, while Kratzer has 12 points, five assists, three steals and three boards
- Senior guard/forward Michael Leonardo posted 11 points, nine rebounds and three assists
- Sophomore guard Taylor Perlmutter had five points, a career-high six assists, two rebounds and two steals while graduate student guard Alex Dietz also netted five points to go with three assists
- Freshman forward Brave Haugh added five points and two boards while freshman forward Jametric Harris had four points, five rebounds and a pair of assists
- Cummiskey finished with three points and a career-high seven rebounds while sophomore guard George Cutler added one point
- The Hounds shot 35-for-71 from the field, 16-for-36 beyond the three-point line and 14-for-21 at the foul line
- The Blue & Grey held a 41-36 advantage on the boards including 12-6 on the offensive glass, and Moravian forced Goucher into 16 turnovers while committing just 10 turnovers
