WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. --- The Moravian College women's lacrosse team posted a 20-13 victory over host Keiser (Fla.) University, the fourth-ranked team in the NAIA, Saturday as part of the Greyhounds' spring trip.
The Hounds, now 3-2 on the year, had eight different goal scorers led by junior attack Danielle Sullivan, who had five goals and two assists to go with a pair of ground balls. Senior attack Liz Bill contributed four goals, an assist and eight draw controls while sophomore midfielder Lindsey Strohl added four goals, four draw controls, three caused turnovers and a pair of ground balls. Junior midfielder Meaghan McMullan had two goals, four assists, seven ground balls and three caused turnovers for the Blue and Grey while sophomore attack Kelsey Moore had two goals and a pair of ground balls.
Freshman attack Megan Donnelly added a goal, three assists, four draw controls and two ground balls while junior attack Breanna Federico and junior defender Olivia Clearie each netted one goal with Clearie adding three draw controls. Freshman midfielder Emily Hoskin contributed an assist and two ground balls.
Moravian freshman goalie Brelyn Friedman recorded 11 saves and two ground balls while sophomore defenders Samantha Cherenson and Meghan Moore both had a pair of ground balls.
The Greyhounds opened the scoring just over four minutes when McMullan and Sullivan scored within 20 seconds of each other for a 2-0 lead. Keiser scored three of the next four goals to knot the score at 3-3 with just over 19 minutes left in the first half. The Blue and Grey retook the lead for good when Sullivan scored again at the 18:50 mark to start a 5-0 run. Bill added a goal just before the half ended to send Moravian to the intermission with a 10-4 lead.
The Seahawks scored first in the second half to get within five goals but that would be as close as they would get as the Hounds eventually pulled ahead by 10 goals at 19-9 when Kelsey Moore scored with just over 11 minutes to play in the contest.
Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Thursday, March 16 when the squad hosts The College of Wooster (Ohio) in a non-conference match beginning at 4:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field.
