READING, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's soccer team opened their 2021 campaign with a 1-1 tie in non-conference action against Penn. State Berks on Saturday afternoon.
How It Happened
- The Greyhounds got on the board first, with a goal from senior Megan Chesney in the 19th minute, which was assisted by senior Alexa Brown, to give Moravian a 1-0 lead. That's where the score would stand at the end of the first half.
- In the 84th minute, the Nittany Lions were able to find the back of the net to even the match at 1-1, which held to end regulation.
- Both squads played a pair of scoreless overtime periods, which resulted in a 1-1 draw.
Inside the Numbers
- Chesney's goal was the eighth of her career and first since the 2018 campaign.
- Brown's assist was the first assist of her career.
- Moravian took a total of 19 shots, nine of them coming in the first half, and 11 shots going on goal.
- Sophomore Paige Harrison led the Greyhounds defensively, making five save in 65:00 minutes of action while sophomore Payce Korpics made the start for the Blue & Grey, making two saves in 45:00 minutes.
- The Greyhounds earned a total of nine corner kicks in the contest, including two in the first overtime, with Penn. State Berks earning four.
