TOWSON, Md. --- Three members of the Moravian University women's soccer team have been named to the 2021 Landmark All-Conference Teams with senior defender Alexa Brown making the First Team and senior midfielder Morgan Covart and freshman midfielder Chelsea Meltzer honored on the Second Team.

The Greyhounds, under the direction of eighth-year Head Coach Jeff Ykoruk, were 6-5-4 on the year with two matches being cancelled by weather. The Hounds were also 3-3-1 in the Landmark Conference regular season to qualify for the conference tournament as the fourth seed.

"I was happy to see Alexa, Morgan and Chelsea being named to the All-Conference teams," noted Ykoruk. "All three of them have such a great work ethic and play hard in each and every game. Alexa and Morgan as senior captains led by example, and it came at such a crucial time with two thirds of our roster being freshmen and sophomores."

Brown, who was in her second year as a team captain this fall, earned All-Conference honors for the first time in her career. She started 42 of 43 career matches and contributed three goals and two assists to go with a pair of game-winning goals, and Brown helped Moravian's defense post 20 shutouts in her career. Brown is a two-time member of the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll.

"Alexa was our leader in the back line and helped organize us defensively," Ykoruk said. "She displayed a great amount of composure and confidence on the ball, which allowed us to build out of the back really well. She also was on the ball for a majority of our set plays and helped create goal scoring opportunities for the team."

Covart, who also served as a team captain in 2021, played in 44 career matches with 22 starts, and she contributed a goal and two assists for the Greyhounds. Covart is a two-time selection to the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll.

"Morgan was our engine in the midfield," explained Ykoruk. "She was an amazing ball winner all season long and would mark out the opposing teams attacking center mid every game. She played a really big role in controlling the game and distributing the ball. She provided us with great energy each game and allowed us to get more numbers in the attack, knowing she would hold the fort down in the middle."

Meltzer started 14 of 15 matches in her debut season with the Blue and Grey, and she contributed a goal and three assists this fall.

"Chelsea had an amazing freshman year. To be named All-Conference in the Landmark in your first year is a big accomplishment," stated Ykoruk. "She played multiple positions for us this season and her speed and athleticism made for a tough mark while she was in the attack. She also stepped in and would shut down an opposing team's forward when we used her in the back line. I'm looking forward to seeing her continue to develop in the offseason and her really bright future."
