BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's soccer squad earned a 1-0 shutout win over visiting Juniata College on John Makuvek Field Saturday as the Greyhounds celebrated Homecoming.
How It Happened
- The Eagles hit the cross bar with the first shot of the contest in the opening minute while Moravian's first shot was on goal but saved
- The Greyhounds would net the only goal of the contest in the 13th minute when freshman midfielder Taylor Yoder headed in a pass from junior defender Caroline Doyle
- Moravian sophomore midfielder Alexa Vail hit the crossbar just before the intermission as the match remained 1-0 at the break
- Neither squad was able to get a shot into the goal in the second half
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian had a 13-2 advantage in shots while both teams took four corner kicks
- Yoder's goal was the first of her career as a Greyhound while Doyle earned her first career point with the assist
- Sophomore goalies Payce Korpics and Paige Harrison each played one halve to combine on their sixth shutout of the season and neither Greyhound faced a shot in the contest
Quotable from Head Coach Jeff Ykoruk
- "I was very happy to see Taylor Yoder score her first career goal. She has worked so hard to return to play after injuring her ankle days before our first contest."
- "We managed to get a conference win on a day that we struggled to put it all together. Credit Juniata with frustrating us with getting numbers behind the ball, but a win is a win and we will learn from this like we do after every game."
- "I'm very pleased with how hard we worked to earn our seventh shutout of the year. Payce and Paige, our entire backline and holding mids really put in the energy into holding Juniata to two shots."
