Greyhounds Shutout Goucher on Senior Day

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's soccer squad posted a 2-0 win over Goucher College in Landmark Conference action on John Makuvek Field Saturday as the Greyhounds celebrated Senior Day. 

How It Happened

  • The Hounds took a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute as senior defender Alexa Brown headed in a corner kick from freshman midfielder Chelsea Meltzer
  • The duo nearly connected again a minute and a half later, but Brown's header sailed wide to the left
  • Moravian stretched its lead to 2-0 in the 34th minute as Metlzer found the net on the near post on a corner kick from the far side by Brown. That would be the final tally of the match by either squad

Inside the Numbers

  • Brown's goal was her first of the season, and it is her third career goal and first since 2018
  • Meltzer found the goal for the first time in her career, and both she and Brown have two assists this fall
  • Sophomore goalies Payce Korpics and Paige Harrison combined on their fourth shutout of the season with Korpics making two saves in the first half and Harrison recording three saves in the second half. Korpics earned her third win of the season in goal
