Men's Tennis Opens Season at Muhlenberg Fall Classic

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's tennis team began its 2013-14 season Sunday at the Muhlenberg College Fall Classic along with King's College and Wilkes University.

"This was a really good tournament to start the season," said Head Coach Art Smith. "King's has some Division I transfers and Wilkes feels they may have their best team ever. Muhlenberg is always strong so today was a great test to start the season with some good competition."

The Greyhounds had two players, freshman Mike Antonis and sophomore Matt Tuorto each won their third place matches in singles competition to finish the day at 1-1. Antonis, playing in the first singles flight, dropped a match to Steve Wilson from Wilkes in the opening round before defeating Keith Beizer from Muhlenberg in the third place match.

Tuorto dropped a tough three-set match to Stephen Brand from King's in the second singles bracket. Tuorto won the first set in a tiebreaker before falling in a ten-point tiebreaker in the third set. Tuorto bounced back to defeat Corey Galembo of Muhlenberg in the third place match.

Moravian will host King's on Tuesday, September 17 in the Greyhounds first dual match of the season at Hoffman Courts beginning at 4:00 p.m.
