Men's Tennis Drops Hard-Fought, 5-4, Match to Juniata

HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's tennis team suffered its first setback in Landmark Conference action this spring, falling to host Juniata College in a hard-fought 5-4 decision Wednesday afternoon.

The Greyhounds, 5-6 overall and 2-1 in Landmark action, had a 2-1 lead after the doubles action. Sophomores Matt Tuorto and John Wylie earned an 8-4 victory at first doubles while the Greyhounds' second doubles duo of junior Lewis Cooper and freshman Mike Antonis needed a tiebreaker to earn the go ahead point with a 9-8 (7-5) triumph.

Cooper and Antonis also had Moravian's wins in singles action. Cooper posted a 7-6 (9-7), 6-0 straight sets win at third singles while Antonis needed three sets for his 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory at fourth singles. Wylie forced a second set tiebreaker in his second singles match before dropping a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) while freshman Giovanni Lombardi won his opening set at fifth singles before falling in a three-set match.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, April 5 in a Landmark match at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. starting at 1:00 p.m.
