BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Great weather and a terrific group of Alumni players attended the men's tennis annual Alumni Match at Hoffman Courts Sunday. 

Three of the Moravian Alumni were teammates when they played for the Hounds. Joe Mattes, Evan Haruta, and Paul Sommers were all on the same team, and in fact Evan and Joe played #1 doubles together. The match was very competitive, although the current varsity prevailed. Paul Sommers came all the way from Maryland and played exceptionally well at number one singles and number one doubles for the Alumni.

Coach Art Smith, Class of '68, is working on an Alumni vs. Varsity challenge for next year's match. The Alumni seemed willing to accept the challenge but coach needs to come up with a format that will fair to both squads.

Thanks again for all the Alumni that played yesterday and also to all those past players that expressed interest in the event but could not make it to the match. Keep an eye out for next year's date and format for the Alumni Challenge Match.
