Cooper Named Landmark Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Senior Lewis Cooper of the Moravian College men's tennis team has been named the Landmark Conference Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.

Cooper, one of the Greyhounds' captains this year, is competing in the fall portion of the season for the first time in his career, and he helped the Hounds open the 2014-15 campaign with a 9-0 sweep at Delaware Valley College on Saturday. Cooper had a 6-0, 6-0 win at third singles and he teamed with sophomore Giovanni Lombardi for an 8-0 victory at second doubles.

"Lewis and the team got off to a solid start on Saturday at the Doylestown Tennis Club against Delaware Valley," stated fourth-year Head Coach Art Smith. "Lewis played his usual aggressive doubles style with Giovanni and was just rock solid in singles play. Lewis, a senior, is a tremendous leader on and off the tennis court."

Moravian is scheduled to play its first home match of the year at Hoffman Courts on Wednesday, September 10 when Albright College comes to Bethlehem for a 4:00 p.m. non-conference match.
